Bible Quizzing

The Texas District offers the senior Bible quiz ministry to young people between the ages of 12 and 18.  To launch a quiz team is fairly simple.  One only needs to purchase the needed materials and establish quiz times in the local church.  The quizzers will memorize verses from the King James Version of the Bible and meet monthly to quiz and fellowship with other quizzers from around the district.  The 2011 study is Thessalonians, Timothy, Titus, and Peter.  The benefits of the Bible quizzing program are as follows:

  1. Improved academic skills
  2. Personal discipline in study habits
  3. Exercising of memory skills
  4. Development of team skills
  5. Travel opportunities
  6. Improved time management skills
  7. Character development
  8. Teen fellowship

Involvement in Bible Quizzing will affect every area of the young person’s life.  The goal of this life-changing ministry is to equip the young people of the United Pentecostal Church to become highly effective in the work of God’s kingdom.  The Texas district leads the nation in the number of churches involved, and your church can participate with one or more teams.  Through the study of God’s Word, every part of the young person’s personality will be evangelized.  God will train his will, stir his emotions, and prick his intellect.  Because knowing the Word of God makes one free from the bondages of sin, Bible quizzing will aid the quizzer and coach in knowing the true meaning of victory in Christ Jesus.  For more information, contact us.

Hyphen

What is txHyphen ministry?

txHyphen is a ministry is a division of the Youth department. It is a ministry that is focused on 18 – 30 year old and unmarried. It is a ministry that wants to inspire, disciple, support, and encourage this group of young adults in their future. The txHyphen is a vital part of ministry on a personal, local, and district level. Our vision is to increase the involvement of this group in a phases of ministry. I believe that the immediate future direction of the church is resting on this group. We as leaders need to invest effort, energy, prayer, training, and faith in this ministry.  The hyphen represents a connection between two concepts. This little line serves to fuse together words so that their meanings are altered and a new thought emerges. We owe this generation the respect to allow their voices to be heard, and then take the opportunity to teach, instruct, and guide them in an effort to build and strengthen the Kingdom.

Where do you fit in txHyphen?

The most effective of part of any ministry, is being in God’s will. The second part is being willing to be used. txHyphen want to help facilitate the growth of the ministry in this group. You are a valuable part of the church body. We want to help you develop a deeper walk with God, through events, fellowship, and various ways of interaction with other Hyphens.

Events:

Fuel (District event) – A retreat purposed to connecting Hyphens to one another and deepening their relationships with Jesus through praying, worshiping, serving, and fellowship together.

Regional Events – We will have regional rallies and events that will include several sections. This will involve a time of service, teaching, worshiping, and fellowship.

Sectional Events – We will have an event in every section on a regular basis. These events will consist of hangouts, fellowship, services, and Bible studies.

The purpose for all of these events is building the strength and unity of the Hyphen group. We want to create an environment that increases the walk with God, and involvement in the local church.

How do I get involved?

Talk with your pastor about starting a Hyphen group in your local church. You mostlikely already have one (College and Career). The next thing that you need to do is contact us so that we can add you to our email and contact list for upcoming events.

CMI-Logo-White.jpg

CMI

Since it’s inception over 20 years ago, CMI has sought to provide the framework and resources necessary for the local churches and students of North America to reach into, what has largely been, one of the most untapped mission fields by the modern-day apostolic church. With nearly 22 million college students walking the campuses of our continent, there is an open door for increased evangelistic efforts that will bring the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ to these hungry students.

Every student goes to college for a different reason - some go solely for an education and some go solely for the party. Regardless, of their initial intention, each of those students are there looking for “truth.” Whether they know it or not, they are searching for that truth that will define their reality, craft their morals, and shape their future; the truth that they will live by and die by; the truth they will believe and practice for the rest of their lives. Our secular colleges and universities offer these students a myriad of truths to believe – atheism, agnosticism, and postmodernism, just to name a few. In this world where the multiplicity of truths is celebrated, it is imperative that we offer these students the opportunity to experience the One who is Truth – Jesus Christ.

What we are currently seeing are apostolic students from all over North America buying into the vision of CMI. As a result, these students are sharing the Truth with their classmates, faculty, and staff on their campuses. Many of these individuals are being delivered from lives filled with sin and shame, being healed of physical, emotional, and spiritual disease, being baptized in the name of Jesus, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and falling in love with the Truth that is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

So, why does CMI exist?

It exists for the sole purpose of training and equipping an apostolic army that can go and reap the harvest of hungry souls that is ripe on the campuses of North America. It is with this vision in mind that we celebrate the successes of the past and press on into a new and exciting future.

Sheaves for Christ

What is Sheaves for Christ?

Sheaves for Christ (SFC) is the fundraising program of the General Youth Division of the United Pentecostal Church International. Since its inception in 1952, over $100 million dollars have been raised to help a variety of needs.

What does Sheaves for Christ Support?

Bible Quizzing

The General Youth Division is proud to sponsor two levels of quizzing. The Intermediate Division is open to 12 – 14 year olds and the Experienced Division involves 15 – 18 year olds. In addition to this, the Youth Division produces several quizzing resources that assist teams in preparing for competitions on the district and national level.

Apostolic Youth Corps

Apostolic Youth Corps (AYC) facilitates the pairing of ministry-minded Pentecostal youth with North American and international sites which need and/or desire evangelism assistance. AYC provides evangelism opportunities within North America or international sites for various durations ranging from 7-14 days and long term assignments that range from 4-9 months.

The Commune-ity Meeting

Formerly known as the North American Youth Workers Convention, The Commune-ity Meeting is a conference geared toward empowering youth pastors and youth workers with biblically sound and relevant teaching. This multi-sensory youth conference inspires, informs and equips youth workers with instruction and resources to impact their local ministries. Visit thecommune-ity.com for information regarding this youth ministry experience!

District Projects

Forty percent of the earned SFC offering is retained in the local district to assist the funding of various projects for young people. This offering helps subsidize campground projects, Youth Camps, Conventions, Youth Worker Training's, PK Retreats and Young Married Seminars.

North American Youth Congress

North American Youth Congress (NAYC) is the premier youth conference of the United Pentecostal Church. Thousands of young people attend this meeting and are exposed to inspiring preaching, teaching, singing and great fellowship! NAYC takes place biannually in a city in North America and is anticipated with much excitement by young people, and youth workers of the UPCI.

Inside-Out

Pentecostal teens can read about culturally relevant issues from a biblical perspective in this magazine produced exclusively by the General Youth Division. Young people are often the authors of the articles in this publication in addition to seasoned youth workers, pastors and contributors.

Foreign Missions

Without reliable transportation, many of our missionaries would not be able to spread the Gospel into areas that have rough terrain or are far from their homes. Over 17 million dollars has been given to the Foreign Mission Division to purchase vehicles for missionaries. Why? Because no missionary should have to forfeit evangelizing their field of burden because of insufficient transportation. For more information about the Foreign Missions Division, visit globalmissions.com

Home Missions

One of the biggest challenges for a home missionary is purchasing or renovating property in order to have adequate facilities for church services. SFC provides grants of up to $10,000 to assist home missionaries in purchasing property. This is just another way that SFC helps to expand revival across North America. Visit northamericanmissions.faith for more information.

Christian Education

Many young people feel a calling into ministry and a desire to prepare for ministry by attending Bible College. Some students face challenges in raising finances for tuition. Fortunately, SFC has given over $850,000 to provide scholarships to qualified young people seeking to train themselves for working in the kingdom of God. Funds raised from SFC are also used to sponsor a summer retreat for the staff members of our Bible colleges.

Tupelo Children’s Mansion

The result of the dissolution of the nuclear family has resulted in the shattering of many young lives. With many young people subject to the problems that a broken home produces, Tupelo Children’s Mansion provides a place of solace for those who have been abandoned and abused. The General Youth Division is thrilled to partner with TCM by providing funds that support this vital ministry. For more information about Tupelo Children’s Mansion, please visit mansionkids.org

Lighthouse Ranch for Boys

The purpose of Lighthouse Ranch is to heal the broken lives of young men. This healing is accomplished through therapeutic guidance methods and by the Word of God. Through the spirit of love and caring, The Lighthouse Ranch has helped steer troubled boys toward living responsible and mature lives. Visit lighthouseranch.com for more information.

Spirit of Freedom Ministries

According to a recent U.S. News and World Report, almost one third of high school students take their first drink before the age of 14, while 20 percent of teens binge drink by the ninth grade. By the 12th grade, more than 80 percent have drunk alcohol. As a result of this, many young adults are being strangled by the ugly tentacles of alcoholism.

Spirit of Freedom Ministries is a nonprofit Christian organization dedicated to reaching the chemically dependent and their families with the answer to their alcohol or drug related problems, offering materials and toll-free phone lines to assist men, women and children across North America who desire help. Log on to sofm.org for more information about the ways this ministry helps rescue families from the damaging effects of alcohol.
